For all of you working from home parents and stay at home families it has been one heck of a start to the 2021 season. The first day of winter was over 2 weeks ago and the fresh time change is right around the corner. I don't know about you but things have gone a lot smoother than I anticipated as a small business owner in this virtual market. I have had fried and identity theft protection, tax audit assistance and spent over 40 hours in my local Small women-owned business center ( run by the small businesses administration) trying to find ways to cut back spending and get tax write-offs that will work for me and my small family. One that has been a huge fan of is the home office and equipment right off. I've had some troubles differentiating between those that are a standard deduction and equipment that is considered depreciated. Which brings me to my next point which is a sensible purchase which is, what is an essential purpose purchase when it comes to a communication device. I don't know about you but I don't see many people with Android devices anymore. I was out shopping with the local mom and selfishly looked at about 10 to 20 people. Nine of which had no phone at all and the remainder seem to have the best Apple technology devices. so, I took it upon myself to do some research on what would work best for me. Unfortunately, it seems like the best solution is to go back to the old school method and purchase another personal computer specifically for my home base office and get on a pay plan with a cell phone carrier with their newest and most affordable device. I've been switching out of devices like I'm registering for a new email. Surprisingly, a new email address feels like a brand new identity to me. Anyway, any suggestions on what's been working for you. how about your home based business, for those of you essential workers out there are any of you having a phone through your employer? If so, do you pay for it or does your company? Do you get the right to write those office work related expenses for your taxes or not? I've been thinking about getting with the temp agency to have a second stream of income for basics like laundry and new shoes. Because the internet bill I anticipated receiving just doesn't seem worth it in weight and gold for coming out of a winter season that only has one major snow storm. So in this club there's some great discounts and outdoor wear right now. Most sporting goods stores in general department stores like Walmart and Target seem to have a surplus of winter jackets, hats and gloves right now! And anyway, the IRS has been processing taxes since late January and I have already issued my own complaints. They send out billions of dollars and stimulus checks to the American public. So, what exactly is the plan that the president has with the executive community and the Democrats. What do they have planned for discussing this upcoming week? Well we'll see when we cross that bridge. Until then please respond with your tax write-off in 2020 device suggestions below and have a great beginning of spring.
