With winter around the corner and summer giving everyone the reopening blues, small business and entrepreneurial is taking a virtual turn for the best. The government has set guidelines on what the reopening process looks like and most essential businesses are getting the hang of the social distancing way of serving their clientele. For most non-essential businesses they have found a way to adapt to the slower swing of things and improvise where they weren't able to do things the way that they were before the pandemic. With that being said what has to be done in most of the continually rising death toll in the United States.
When it comes to business, social distances, wearing a mask, and scheduling an appointment is a trend that will be apart of the service world until further notice. However l. If you provide a product, depending on reasonable delivery time and having a manufacturer that can get your product ready in a reliable and trackable way can be quite the struggle if you don't already have a pre-existing relationship. Or, if you have had to make some changes to the pandemic for production. Which led to the topic of today's blog.
In small business and entrepreneurial endeavors, word of mouth is a great way to obtain and retain a decent client base. For those pioneers that work from a home office setting; most social media platforms come with the option of creating a page just for your business. This allows you to specifically market using live, social ads, and posting about or product and service. What I'm finding as a concern for a vast majority of h ok me based businesses is having a timely way to respond to clientele and finding new clients that want to purchase their products or services. So, three key things to remember are 1. Ask upfront, 2. Stick to the promo and 3. Close the deal first. When you pay for advertising on a social media platform you want to focus on quantity for the home-based entrepreneur. Traditionally the quality or quantity argument works well for most individuals that run a business without employees. However, the virtual trend is on an uprise and the vast majority of your potential client base will be using the internet or some online portal to find out information like your location, contact information, products or service and most importantly reviews about the work that you have done for current and previous consumers. Some of your competitors are going as far as to pay people who o complete reviews so they have a robust panel of reviews for potential customers to review. So be sure to follow up on even the least likely people who reach out. I would suggest paying for a review. However, offer an incentive and/or discount is a great way to start. So, as you go into the winter months you will have a client list that you can use if things slow down. Also, always have a targeted approach. If you use an ad app; they usually help with the wording of a specific deal or discount. So, if your top-selling items are available, research your competitors and find a niche that sets you apart so you can be specific in your ask when you receive responses to your marketing efforts. When you contact or respond to potential clientele be sure not to procrastinate and focus on the deal that your running. Finally, focus on closing the deal on the first contact. I'm sure the old cold call sales techniques make some of you feel squeamish. But for all of us old-timers, we don't want to squander an opportunity.so. be forever prepared to complete the service on the first contact. If they need more time, ask then if they can complete a small survey for a discounted free item. Finally, don't forget to think with the end in mind. When you do business with potential buyers always treat them like you will have them as a customer in 25 years. If they don't like your offer development a report and you India what would make them purchase from you as opposed to your competitors.
Last but not least in focusing on numbers as opposed to business relationships you will have a lot of scams and the general public that just want more information and have no intention of ever doing business with you. I am suggesting that you report these individuals to the social media platforms that you utilize and for the conventional and nonessential small business owner that might be a market you can make something out of (shameless business idea plug). Well until next time stay focus on the numbers and get ready to dominate your winter with h.c success and productivity. For all of you, mind to large businesses keeps an eye out for the second edition of this blog for some words of advice on preparing for a lucrative yet relaxed winter season.
