With all of the pandemic death toll numbers on the rise. Globally the healthcare industry has been faced with both opportunity and concern. The industry is one that will never die and it's always facing new ways to innovate, research and adapt to the needs of patients and consumers worldwide. The most recent findings have been how to adapt and conform to the massive pandemic closures and stay-at-home rules and infrastructures issued by the World Health Organization, Center for Disease Control and the President. Today's article's main topic of discussion is virtual healthcare crisis response. With the heightened demand for cure development and virus spread prevention the industry has created an unspoken need for consumer-friendly response and reasonable stay-at-home accommodation methods that this author has researched and believes to be valid in these sustainable areas: 1. prevention, 2. diagnosis, 3. treatment and 4. discharge.
According to Webster's Dictionary, prevention is defined as " the act of preventing or hindering." In consideration of the stay-at-home module virtual healthcare is a thing of the future. Most providers and institutions are utilizing teleconference platforms for service and treatment of their clients and consumers. With that being said, the primary measures of prevention are: protection, sanitation and education. This is the majority of the global pandemic population. So, most states and municipalities have addressed the top two for prevention which are protection and sanitation. Most essential businesses and public gathering venues have mask order requirements for entry and Hand sanitizing to help prevent the spread of both viral and basic human germs. The city of Denver went as far as to complete the installation of hand-washing stations throughout the city to ensure that residents and alienated occupants were washing their hands regularly. The next step in prevention is one that is not often discussed but it's equally important. Education is the missing component to ensure that provision of the spread of the germs and pandemic viruses is not only limited but can at some juncture be cured. Education is a broad term that also brings up a non-traditional reference to being constantly aware of the things that can go on in your environment as it relates to your health and well-being. Whether that turns out to be newspaper articles, health magazines, online medical sites for YouTube videos. Be sure to find things that are applicable to the topic that is on the top of your list. If you are at a loss for where to start your local news and Civic organizations are a great place.
The next step in covid crisis response is diagnosis. It is understood that most states have various locations where test sites have been set up. The thing that has become questionable in this author's research is the cost of the test, the time the results and appropriate treatment for individuals who test positive for the virus. Most testing sites accept most major insurance plans. Less than 10% of the testing sites have an online booking solution to uphold the social distancing requirements that were a major fad at the onset of the pandemic. However, when you get to the testing sight they are asking all of the questions that you submitted answers to online. Which leads me to believe that there is a shortage of stay-at-home workers to complete the data entry necessary to ensure expeditious completion and increase the numbers of actual tests successfully administered in the US. Their other confirmed concern is what takes place when a patient gets positive results. Most have been given treatment options and discharged fairly quickly. Seeing as though they have yet to solidify a free cure it's hard to believe that on-call nurses and care techs have entered into reasonable training to administer such a thing.
On that note, treatment presents an entirely different dynamic in an 80% virtually driven Healthcare Market. The priority topics for this article as it relates to treatment are counseling and prescriptions through recovery; the first seems to be addressed sufficiently. The mental health centers of Denver have completely switched all of their counseling services to teleconferencing. Assumably, they have committed to this method across the US. The patient is required to sign a consent for treatment to ensure that the provider receives payment and the session is treated as a standard doctor console. It is yet to be understood what the providers are using as a billing code for these types of things. But let's look on the bright side. It's a great opportunity for all of you 1099 healthcare workers to take advantage of the on-call opportunities that have arisen out of this trend. Finally, discharge is a fairly self-explanatory concept. This author finds in their research that most people follow the instructions given during their discharge and there is a less than 30% recovery rate for the pandemic clients and consumers that have tested positive. In hopes that this information finds you well on your way to a successful fall, be sure to go out, get tested and make it great and don't forget your real awesomeness.
